![]() April Meeting Tuesday, April 13th, 7:00pm at Accurate Image click for driving directions Optional: join us for dinner at LaFiesta before the meeting, 5:30pm Photoshop Efficiency One of the most common problems we face today is how to get out from behind the computer and back behind the camera. Image processing in a digital age can result in hours staring into the glow of a monitor. Our next three programs are aimed specifically at trying to help this issue. This meeting will discuss basic setup and strategies that will shorten your time spent in Photoshop. Becoming more efficient is not a matter of learning one magic complex technique. It comes from building a library of many small shortcuts unique to your particular needs. Automate as many of the routine tasks as possible and reserve your time for those that require your critical input. If you come away from the meeting with even just one new trick to put in your bag your time will have been well spent. The demo will be done using Photoshop CS (version 8). If you've thought of upgrading, this will be a good illustration of what you might expect. Much of what is dicussed will be applicable to Photoshop 7 as well. Future meetings: On May 11th, Brian Woodcheck from Imaging Spectrum will be here to demo Express Digital software. Express Digital sells a variety of software solutions aimed at automating very specific workflows. If you do any type of modest to high volume, quick turn-around work you really need to see this demo. He should also have the new Kodak SLR/c and Epson 4000 printer to show by then. The SLR/c is an upgraded version of the 14n with a Canon lens mount. On June 8th, we'll meet at John Pack's studio where John will give a demo of his portrait workflow using Phase One's Capture One software. Print Exhibition Starting in May we want to add a new "feature" to our meetings... a monthly print exhibition. We've done a print competition at a few meetings in the past. This is different. We want to encourage every member to bring one print every month for the scrutiny of fellow members. We can all learn by seeing what each other is doing. No requirements for size, media, or subject matter. Just bring whatever you've found interesting and challenging in your recent work. There will be a way for fellow members to anonomously score and critique the work. At the end of the year we'll give an award to the photographer whose prints have racked up the greatest score. Just participate at every meeting and you're already well on the way to earning this award. We'll discuss this further at the April meeting. meeting fee: no charge for members ($50 annual dues) $10.00 non members. First time visitors, no charge.
