For Love And Money
presented by
Tim Flanagan
Solas Gallery - Salado

Most professional photographers chose their vocation because of a love for art and a desire to create. Most of us also quickly discovered that a business cannot continue for long without tackling the difficult problem of making a profit. Tim Flanagan will share how he has weathered the pendulum swing from starving artist to cold business man and back again several times during his 12 year career. This presentation will provide practical steps to help you remember why photography used to be fun and how your unique creative gift can make you more profitable.

Future meetings: On August 10th, the tenative plans are to meet at Accurate Image for a meeting about web based marketing. We'll use that meeting to launch an online presence for our members on the web. Tim Ostermeyer from Dallas will be here in September with his remarkable nature images and comments on how he markets them. Please note that the September meeting will be on a different week. Tim will be here for the Dallas guild's Little Red Schoolhouse on September 19-20. He's going to stay an extra day so he can do our program on Tuesday September 21st. Doug Box is on the schedule for November 9th.

Print Exhibition

Keep 'em coming!. The prints present at the past couple of meetings have sparked a lot of conversation among the group. That's the idea! Bring one print... any size, format or subject matter. All prints will be displayed with a method for fellow members to anonymously leave comments and score the images. This isn't really meant as a competition. Its intended as a way to spark constructive criticism among fellow photographers... one of the very best ways to improve your skills. That said, we want to encourage participation with interesting images. So we'll give an award at the end of the year to the photographer whose prints accumulated the highest total scores. Just participate every month and you're already well on the way to a high score.

meeting fee: no charge for members ($50 annual dues)
$10.00 non members. First time visitors, no charge.
