Board of Directors

Margaret Bryant – August speaker

Program description:
Millions of people consider dogs a valued member of their families.  Some
of those families are probably your clients.  You take the time to pose the
families or the high school senior, but how much time did you spend with
the dog?  You may be a dog owner and love dogs, but do you know how to act
around a client’s dog?  Or how to prepare your studio for a dog?  These
questions will be answered when Margaret Bryant tells us how to work with
dogs to incorporate them into your existing family, senior and even wedding
portrait business

2d Annual Shootout

Fun – Excitement – Prizes!  The 2d annual HOTPPG Shootout (AKA the “Sarah Hess Shootout”) will be held 14 June instead of our regular monthly meeting.  Everyone is encouraged to participate.  Even if you don’t shoot, please come to socialize/watch.  The location is once again at the Earle Harrison house on 5th street; the shootout will begin at 6PM and last approximately 2 hours.  As soon as we are done shooting we will move to the tent area and hold a print competition – so please bring your competition print entries.  Feel free to bring whatever equipment/snacks/helpers you feel you will need.  The models will include a local Doctor his wife and three children, a petite blonde bride, a high school senior model, a nine month old and Mom and a two year old with Mom and Grandma.  You will be encouraged to take photos of all of the models and you can use them in any combination that you feel will give you a winning image (for example you could shoot the 2 year old by herself or with Mom or even a “three-Generation” photo using Grandma as well).  Those of you who want to compete, can enter an image in a special contest at the July meeting.  Images will be judged by Doug Box who will be our guest speaker.  Although no “shootout” points will be awarded towards the Guild Photographer of the Year Award, there will be 1st, 2d and 3rd placed ribbons as well as some prizes awarded (as well as the admiration of all your fellow photographers).  Please try to be at the Earle Harrison house at 6pm for a quick rules meeting and to start shooting.  Any questions?  Call Tom Sergent at 716-7813.  See you there!

May 2011 Speaker – Bill Ramsey

Bill Ramsey of  Beyond-photography.com will speak with us about how to BUILD A BUSINESS THAT YOU AND YOUR CLIENTS LOVE.

From Bill:

“I love my business . . . the same business that drove me to the edge of bankruptcy, and once demanded 17 hours of each day.  The same business that formerly occupied more square feet than my home is now the business that sends my family to homes in Colorado and Florida -  and beyond.  I am one of the only Photographers I know who honestly admits:  “I have found BALANCE in my personal and professional lives”.

My clinets love my business.  I spend less im marketing than any full-time Photography business I know, yet my clients hug and kiss me for my marketing efforts!

I’ll walk through the ups and downs of our Photography business, gladly sharing our proven methods of destroying a business.  I’ll explain the best moves we ever made, including:

*How we learned to take control of our cashflow

*How we market ourselves without mass-marketing, and are EXTREMELY effective

*How we spend our humid, blazing-hot Arkasas summers on the beaches of Florida

*How we make our business the most MEMORABLE one (much more imortant that being the “BEST”)

*How we have learned to enjoy marketing (gasp) even more than Photography

All this and much more!

See you soon in Waco!

Mr Bill
